Title : 영작문에서 흔히 범하는 15가지 문법 오류 ①
1. Subject-Verb Agreement Errors(주어-동사 일치 오류)
The subject and verb of a sentence must agree with one another in number, whether they are singular or plural. If the subject of the sentence is singular, it's verb must also be singular; and if the subject is plural, the verb must also be plural.(문장의 주어와 동사는 단수이든 복수이든 상관없이 서로 수가 일치해야 합니다. 즉, 문장의 주어가 단수이면 동사도 단수이어야 하고, 주어가 복수형이면 동사도 복수형이어야 합니다.)
Ex. An important part of my life have been the people who stood by me.(X)
→ An important part of my life has been the people who stood by me.
Ex. The two best things about the party was the food and the music.(X)
→ The two best things about the party were the food and the music.
2. Sentence Fragments (문장의 조각 > 불완전 문장)
Sentence fragments are incomplete sentences that don’t have one independent clause. A fragment may lack a subject, a complete verb, or both. (문장의 조각이란 하나의 독립 절이 없는 불완전한 문장을 말합니다. 조각에는 주어, 완전한 동사, 또는 그 둘 모두가 없을 수 있습니다.)
Ex. He gave his mother an extravagant gift after the argument. In spite of everything.(X)
→ In spite of everything, he gave his mother an extravagant gift after the argument.
Ex. The boys snuck home late that night. Then waited for the consequences.(X)
→ The boys snuck home late that night, then waited for the consequences.
3. Missing Comma After Introductory Element (소개 요소 뒤 컴마 누락)
A comma should be used after an introductory word, phrase, or clause. Using a comma gives the reader a slight pause after an introductory element and often can help avoid confusion. (소개 단어, 구 또는 절 뒤에 컴마를 사용해야 합니다. 컴마를 사용해야 읽는 사람이 소개 요소 뒤에 약간의 멈추면서 의미의 혼동을 피할 수 있게 됩니다.)
Ex. In case you haven’t noticed my real name doesn’t appear in the article.(X)
→ In case you haven’t noticed, my real name doesn’t appear in the article.
Ex. Before she had time to think about it Sharon jumped into the icy pool.(X)
→ Before she had time to think about it, Sharon jumped into the icy pool.
